The Mnweni Cultural and Hiking Centre is a non-profit community project which not only provides safe accommodation in the area but acts as a central point for various community conservation projects and job creation projects. The centre is managed by the Mnweni Triangle Development Committee.

Come and enjoy opportunities available nowhere else in the Drakensberg. A combination of traditional hospitality in the true spirit of ubuntu amidst the grandeur of mountains that also offer an unforgettable wilderness experience and rock art sites never before accessible to visitors.  All of this at extremely reasonable and affordable rates.

In 2001 the Mnweni Cultural and Hiking Centre was constructed with poverty relief funds from DEAT and sponsorship from the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism Authority as a project of the Mnweni Triangle Development Committee. There is another similar centre being constructed in the Okhombe valley, as a 'sister' to the Mnweni Centre, with plans to link the two in the future through hiking trails which will enable visitors to walk through all six community areas. These areas have outstanding wilderness quality and also provide opportunities for cultural tourism which are not available elsewhere in the Drakensberg.
